ADAMS -- Raymond L. Biron, 92, of 17 Pleasant St., died Tuesday at the North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Adams on Dec. 20, 1914, son of Leon and Elma Levesque Biron, he attended Adams schools.
Mr. Biron's last place of employment was for the Barrett House in Adams as a maintenance man and also drove school bus for the former E.W. DeGere Bus Co. in Adams for more than 20 years. He retired in 2000. He also worked for the General Electric Co. in Pittsfield for several years and then for the former Arnold Print Works in Adams for many years.
He was a communicant of the parish of Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs and St. Thomas Aquinas in Adams. He loved woodworking and gardening.
Mr. Biron leaves his wife, the former Lena Georgiana Martel, whom he married March 29, 1937.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Francis R. Biron of Troy, Mo., and Norman J. Biron of Adams; two daughters, Ann M. Westall of Wheaton, Ill., and Paula L. Markland of Savoy; two sisters, Lorraine Gilly of Indiana , and Rita Phaneuf of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren
He was predeceased by a son, Robert L. Biron, who died in 1993.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Raymond L. Biron, who died Tuesday, Oct.16, 2007, will take place tomorrow at 9 a.m. from the TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame Church in Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home are today from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Northern Berkshire Health Care through the funeral home. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog Taz. He also leaves her daughters-in-law, Terry Biron, and Jo Ann Biron; sons-in-law, Richard Westall and Joel Markland; and several nieces and nephews. Paula my sympathy goes out to you and your family. Ray was a great guy. I had the pleasure of working with him at Arnold Print Works in the early 70's. My wife and I also would talk to Ray when we would take our evening walks around town.
