ADAMS -- Dennis Alan Chapin, 58, of Randall Street, died Monday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, where he had been admitted Nov. 3 for cardiac arrhythmia.
Born in Adams on April 30, 1949, son of the late Harold L. and Eva Cowell Chapin, he was a 1967 graduate of the former Adams High School.
A Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, he served two tours and attained the rank of gunnery sergeant. He was honorably discharged in April 1988 and received many campaign medals.
Mr. Chapin was employed by Chambro Corp. as a metal fabricator, retiring a year ago. Before that, he worked for Adams Trucking Co. as a truck driver and for Yankee Rowe Nuclear Power Plant as a heavy equipment operator.
He and his wife, the former Deborah Gallas, were married at Camp Lejeune, N.C., on June 26, 1981.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Scott A. Chapin of Old Hickory, Tenn.; a brother, Harold L. Chapin Jr. of San Antonio; two sisters, Helen Kruszyna of Cheshire and Jackie Belanger of Clifton Park, N.Y.; and a granddaughter.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Dennis Alan Chapin, who died Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, will be celebrated Saturday at 12 p.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot. There will be no calling hours. McBRIDE FUNERAL SERVICE is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Chapin also leaves a granddaughter, Colby Chapin of Adams, and three nieces and five nephews.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
