PITTSFIELD -- John J. Furey, 69, of 240 Francis Ave., died Monday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on June 29, 1938, son of Christopher and Mary Pizzuto Furey, he graduated from Pittsfield High School.
He served in the Marine Corps for four years.
Mr. Furey owned and operated Pro Painting for a few years and also was employed by the painters' union.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to Lebanon Valley Speedway, and was a fan of the New York Yankees.
He leaves two sons, Robert Furey of Colorado and Chad Furey Larosa of Adams; four daughters, Rebecca Barton of Swansboro, N.C., Chris Ellen Furey of Dalton, Jacqueline Nelson of Pittsfield and Mary Elizabeth Furey of Pittsfield; three brothers, Christopher Furey, Charles Furey and Michael Furey, all of Pittsfield; two sisters, Mary O'Brien of Lanesborough and Ellen Rice of Pittsfield; nine grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and his former wife, the former Fonda Winters.
