Barbara Louise Mackin

Of Yarmouthport, formerly of Wellesley, died Thursday, March 27, 2008 in Newburyport, daughter of the late Mary Louise Murphy and sister of the late Edwin Murphy; wife of the late Thomas L. Mackin, mother of Paula Mackin of West Newton, MA; Thomas L. (Larry) Mackin, Jr. of Eastham, MA; Christopher Mackin of Cambridge, MA; Carol Mackin of Woodstock CT; Mary Lou Mackin of Amesbury, MA; grandmother to Bridget of Cranston, RI; Jeremiah of Amesbury, MA; Jeanna and James of Woodstock, CT and Laura and Julia of West Newton, MA. Beautiful and indomitable Barbara Mackin was born in Dorchester and raised in Milton. She was among the first flight attendants employed by Eastern Airlines in the 1940's. In 1948, she married Attorney Thomas L. Mackin. A family of five children and six grandchildren followed. She was married to G. Howard Christine, formerly of Wellesley, for thirteen years. Her children and grandchildren were fortunate to be able to spend special time with her prior to her passing. She will be missed by family and friends alike. Burial will be private. A mass of remembrance will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Paul Church, Wellesley. A reception will follow.
