What an amazing man Dr. Muller was. I was privileged to have him as a history professor for a number of classes at Bates. He was a remarkable educator, and an inspirational teacher. Most importantly, he was a gentle and compassionate man whose quiet but commanding presence made him a role model for his students. Peter, Bruni, Chelsea and Becky, I am so sorry for your loss and my thoughts are with you and your entire family.

Peg, my sympathies as I am sure the last years have been difficult ones. I do remember our chat at the 50th reunion of th class of '55. We always looked forward to seeing both of you at reunions. As you may have guessed I learned of Ernie's death from Sally. Take care, Carolyn

I have very fond memories of Dr Muller. An amazing man. He was my adviser (History major, class of 1966) at Bates. He was very supportive of me even when I de-emphasized history in favor of economics (had decided NOT to become a teacher) in my junior year.
Later (1992) my wife and I went on a wonderful Bates sponsored Galapogos trip that included both Ernie & Peg. He was a marvelous traveler. I've enjoyed exchanging wordy Christmas cards with him the past 15 years.
