John, 5 minutes after I met you and your Betsy at the Cape - through Lena McCarthy - Betsy invited me to stay at your home. I have learned this was typical of Betsy's warm hospitable nature. We have met at numerous McCarthy family functions since then, and it was always a pleasure to be in the company of Betsy and you. Sincere condolences to you and your family.

Dear John and Family - Betsy's spirit and zest for life was something to be emulated. She had enormous courage and never quit! Her generosity knew no bounds. Friends that you can just pop in to see without first calling are very rare. My friends, Jim and Lena McCarthy, enjoyed many years of that unique friendship with you, Betsy, and the boys. And I, personally, was glad to have met you and Betsy on different occasions. My husband Frank and I send our deepest sympathies and prayers to all the family.
