Our family was saddened to hear about Don's passing. While I have only known him since moving to the neighborhood a few years ago, I very much enjoyed talking with and learning from him the history of the neighborhood.

Dear Mrs. Broughton, Donald, Dennis and family...we are so terribly sorry for your loss. "Mr. Broughton", as we always called him growing up in the neighborhood, was such an amazingly kind and loving man. My brothers and I have many happy memories of playing in your yard and running around "the bumpy end" of Crawford Street with Donald and Dennis. Mrs. Broughton, my parents loved sharing a cocktail on the deck with you and Mr. B; and I can clearly remember the laughter and good times that you all shared together. I can only hope and pray that somewhere up in Heaven, my parents and Don have already had a happy reunion. All who knew him will miss him, and please know that we will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers.

With much love and sympathy,
Rina (Fernandes) Angelou

Dear Donald and Dennis,
Your Dad was a special man with a very special place in my family. Though no biological relationship existed (unless you count the Southie thing), he was always, from almost my earliest memories, Uncle Don.Even as a youngster I recognized that he was a different kind of adult. Easy and fun to talk to, always interested and with what might have been one of the worlds best laughs.A laugh I'd hear alot over the course of the last 50 years when he'd tell stories of he and my Dad changing my diapers (or trying to) when my Mom would be off at work. My Dad has lost a best friend of 60 years and I have lost a favorite uncle. I'll treasure the good memories I have of your father. michael

Catherine and Broughton family,
My sympathies and prayers go out to all of you.
I enjoyed seeing Donald at Jane and Ed's son Jonathan's wedding and had so much fun with him laughing over me with a walker and him with his cane. His smile will never be forgotten.

May I offer my condolences to the Broughton family during this time sadness.

I am a friend of Donald's "baby sister," Jane, we grew up together. All of Jane's girlfriends had a crush on her "big brother" - I remember that great smile and his booming laugh.

My prayers for all of you!

Aunt Cay, Donald,Pam,Dennis, Jill and the kids,

My heart is full of love and wonderful memories of Uncle Don. His generous spirit always shined through whether he was doing his role as the family photographer always taking the best pictures and then lovingly sending them to you. Or just taking the time to find the right toy for one of my kids. We will miss him so much, but his spirit lives on in all of you. God Bless

Kay, Donald, Pam, Dennis, Jill, and the kids:
Our deepest sympathy for your loss. Donald was a wonderful man, full of life, funny, kind, and a gentle giant of sorts. He was very generous, always had a camera in his hand to capture his grandchildren in action, and the best papa the kids could ever have. He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.

I am going to miss Uncle Don so much. He was a wonderful, kind, and generous person. I will always remember how he made each family gathering so special. I loved going to the Broughtons on Christmas Eve where Uncle Don had spent so much time decorating the house. He would be all smiles and would taking so many pictures to remember our time together. My heart breaks for Auntie Kay, Donald and Dennis and his six grandchildren for their big loss.
Sending lots of love and prayers.
