James Colt Obituary

Of Wenham, MA, June 5, age 75. Former State Representative of Essex County Fourth District from 1995 to 1997 and former Selectman in Wenham from 1990 to 1996 and in Milton from 1973 to 1982. Survived by his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth Reynolds Colt (Buffy), his three daughters, Elizabeth Simonds Colt of Los Angeles, CA; Alexandra Russell Colt of Great Barrington, MA and Sarah Forbes Colt of Brookline, MA; four grandchildren, brother Henry F. Colt, Jr., sisters Ellen Colt Singer and Mary Forbes Colt; a nephew S. Russell Werkman, the beloved son of his deceased sister, Alexandra (Sandy) Colt. A Memorial Service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, 705 Hale St., Beverly Farms on Thursday, June 12 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Research, 55 Fruit St., Boston, MA 02114 or to the Kaplan House of the North Shore Hospice, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923.

A good friend who was most generous in passing along useful bits of personal advice when I succeeded him as head of the sixth form at SPS. Sadly our paths never passed thereafter, but I remember him with great respect. David Carter
