John Fabian Obituary

100, died at Cape Cod Hospital on June 14, 2008. Born in Milton on June 22, 1907, he was educated and raised there. He worked as a service manager for Woodward Chevrolet in the early years and then as claims adjuster for Continental Insurance. He retired to Dennisport in 1973. He spent many hours on the Cape fishing from the surf. He was an aerial photographer for the Air National Guard during World War II. He also worked as a welder in a shipyard during World War II, where he worked on the U.S.S. Wasp. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth in January of 1997. He leaves a son, Richard Fabian of Rancho Cordova, California; two grandchildren, Petra Gilmore of San Carlos, California and Stefan Fabian of New Haven, Connecticut; 5 great-grandchildren, Barlow Gilmore, Candice Easter, Caitlin Gilmore, Hannah Fabian, and Damon Fabian; and one great-great-grandson, Gregg Fabian-Allen. Visiting hours will be held at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 260 Main St., WEST HARWICH on Saturday, June 21 from 5-7 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the close of visitation. Burial will be held in Milton Cemetery.

I was the baby adjuster at Continental. John was more than another adjuster. He was my second father when I needed someone to talk to. After I left Continental & became an attorney, John was still there for me. Until a few years ago until I became disabled,I would drop in to see him when I was on Cape. He will always be remembered in my prayers for the giant of a man he was.

Dear Dick, Alberta & family,
