Uncle Elmer! As I write this my eyes are welling up but my heart is smiling. What a wonderful man with a wry sense of humor. He would make you laugh but never at anyone's expense. My Dad the story and joke teller always had people laughing, but I think the hardest times I ever heard him laugh was when Uncle Elmer would get him going. And with the soft-spoken voice, it was priceless. I remember spending Saturday's into the night in Waltham palying in the yard, climbing the giant tree while Mom and Dad and Aunt Peggy and Uncle Elmer sat in the screened-in porch talking and laughing. The three were usually laughing so hard it drowned out Uncle Elmer's quieter laugh. But he was having fun too.
Uncle Elmer was always interested in what you were doing and had a great memory. As we all got older and saw each other less, no matter how much time had passed, he would ask about something in your life from the last time you talked. And he had the firmest and most sincerest handshake. You were important to him.
Now he's playing a round of golf, or better yet, sitting at the "19th Hole" enjoying a refreshment and watching a great round on TV.
Aunt Peggy, Gary, Steve, Ellen and David-- I love you guys! The Fallons & Sjostedts had some great times. Now we have great memories. You are in our thoughts and prayers. We'll miss you Uncle Elmer!

I was saddened when my Mom informed me of the heartbreaking news of Uncle Elmer’s passing. You always hear about the circle of life, but it is hard to believe that Uncle Elmer’s circle came to an end. He was such a wonderful man, his circle ended way too soon. Words really cannot express how sad I feel. My heart is filled with sympathy on the loss of such a wonderful man that we were all fortunate to have in our lives.
Uncle Elmer was such a colorful man. And was so funny; he loved to kid people, and had such a contagious laugh. He was devoted to his beautiful family, especially Auntie Peggy; he loved being surrounded by family. We could all see the source of pride you all were to him.
I know how much you will miss your husband, dad and grandfather. We all will. But I know you will remember the many blessings of the beautiful years you shared together. He loved you all so much and you were always a source of strength to him.
We share in your grief and send you our love,
Karla and Steven David

Auntie Peggy, Ellen, Gary, Stephen and David, I am so very sorry for your loss. It's a tremendous loss to us all. I will always remember Uncle Elmer with that great smile and wonderful sense of humor. He was definitely one of the best ever! A man that would drive his young neice home in the wee hours of the morning because she was home sick tells just how remarkable he really was. I will miss him tremendously.
My love, thoughts and prayers are with you all.
