Of Weymouth, formerly of Newburyport & Quincy, June 22, 2008. Beloved husband of Ellen (O'Neill) Matranga. Loving father of Daniel Matranga & wife Gina of Danville, NH, Christian Matranga & wife Erin of Branford, CT, and Tina & husband Tim Cortis of Medway. Brother of Michelle Fyrer of Ipswich and the late Bernard "Buddy" Matranga. Devoted grandfather of Jacqueline, Christian, Matthew, Michael, Isabella, Ava, and another expected in July. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, Wednesday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, N. Quincy at 10 AM. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 PM. Burial to be determined. Donations in John's memory may be made to the American Diabetes Assn., 330 Congress St., Boston, MA 02210 or to the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02108. Ellen, I was so sorry to hear of Johnnie's passing and that we were not there with you. Your niece Lisa was so nice to call, and as I told her, maybe it was the best for my mom in that this would have been so hard for her. She loved him so much as we all did. She doesn't know yet as she is away at my brother's. I will be back from Italy at the end of July, and will tell her when she is with me. We will contact you then.
