It is with deep sadness that I heard of Joe's passing. As a student and brother of APO at MIT I was always touched by the commitment and caring that Joe always showed. He was one of the people who made college a truly memorable and rewarding experience. I can't imagine how many young men and women that Joe's influence touched over the years, but I am sure it runs to the many thousands. To his biological family, my deepest condolences. To his adopted family, my deepest condolences. He was a great man who will be sorely missed.

Your's in LFS, especially F.

Joe's family extended to college students, not just at MIT, but over the entire country. He was a friend, advisor, counselor, and cohort. The sorry of his passing is tempered by the wonderful times and the great "Joe stories" that we have been privileged to experience.
My thoughts go out to his family and his "adopted" families.
Very Sincerely,

Joe was one of the first Alpha Phi Omega advisors I got to know when I joined APO staff, and he will always be an inspiration to me. When he attended an event, he was positive and patient, warm and welcoming to everyone, regardless of weather or logistics challenges. He'll always live in the memories of those he guided, mentored, and befriended, and I'm grateful to known him.

Joe will be greatly missed by all of our family. He was a great role model who showed compassion, who was caring, and who always took the time to talk with you. It's no wonder why he was chosen as an Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity namesake for the whole 1998 national pledge class--quite an honor for Joe and for the fraternity to have found a namesake so all-emcompassing of their values. Joe was a friend who always looked out for others. May he rest in peace knowing that he helped make us and the world a better place.
