John McKenna Obituary

Age 67, of Scituate, July 5, 2008. Son of the late Frank J. and Mary (Doorley) McKenna. John graduated from Bryant University in No. Smithfield, RI in 1964. He was the past owner and president of John F. McKenna Equip. Corp. located in Syracuse, NY, which sold restaurant equipment. Part owner of Hollymatic Corp. in Countryside, IL, before founding McKenna Associates, Inc. in Weymouth, MA, which sold food processing equipment throughout all of New England. Recently, John was partner and President of J.F. O'Neil Assoc., a commercial real estate company in Hingham, MA. John served as President of the North American Independent Food Equip. Distributors Assoc. and on the Board of Directors of New England Wholesale Meat Dealers Association. Mr. McKenna was a member at the Scituate Harbor Yacht Club. Beloved husband of Christine (DeStefano). Loving father of Elizabeth McKenna Ainslie and her husband Lee of New York, John F., Jr. and his wife, Tracy of North Carolina, and Robert E. McKenna of New York. Grandfather of Lee S. Ainslie, IV, John S. Ainslie, John F. McKenna III, and Ryan McKenna. Brother of the late Mary F. McKenna House and Sheila A. McKenna of Narragansett, RI. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 11 at 11 a.m. in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, Scituate Harbor. Visiting hours Friday 9:30-10:30 a.m. at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. (across from St. Anthony's Church), Cohasset. Interment New St. Mary's Cemetery, Scituate. I Worked for John at McKenna Associates. I remember him giving everyone a weeks pay at Christmas and a turkey every Thanksgiving.He treated all of us with much respect and generosity.He taught me many lessons that have since helped me. My deepest condolences to Chrissy and the rest of Johns Family.
