Irving was a dear friend of my grandfather, Paul Lappe. Irv was like a second grandpa to us and joined in many important family moments. His lifelong relationship with my grandfather was always such an inspiration.

I will remember Irv's warm spirit, his great sense of humor, and his dedication to his friends and family.

The Paul Lappé Family—

We were saddened to hear of Irv’s passing. It was always Irv, Hal and Paul--the three amigos. They met at MIT and remained best friends ever since. Their lasting and true friendship was an inspiration to all of us. We will miss him. Love, Don and Alice

Gary Grossman

July 25, 2008

From Gary Grossman and family,

Uncle Irving. Where do I begin? From my earliest memories, there's Uncle Irving -- robust, athletic, always with a joke...or a song. Oh, those songs. Especially in the car. Always with a smile and a big bear hug. Always with love for us, my mom and dad, and my sister, Ruth Ann, who he delighted in taking out snorkeling for the first time. Irving also gave so much love to our three kids and an image they'll never forget. To them, Uncle Irving was Uncle Eyebrows. They'd never seen anyone like him. They never will.

Irving was an original. A wonderful, loving man who believed in family...who celebrated children...who got in the car, or on a plane just to be with us -- for holidays and celebrations, or just because.

Irving was an extraordinary brother to my mom. I see it in the pictures when they were kids. It's in all the albums she kept, especially from the 20's, 30's and 40's...shots of them at the beach and skiing...and wonderful photographs from all of our heartwarming family gatherings. He was caring, loving, thoughtful and so concerned for her.

Maybe that's why he joined my mom on the anniversary of her death. There are some things I just don't question about being a Kusinitz. That's one of them.

And now, Uncle Irving -- as the patriarch of the family -- is doing what patriarchs do. He's bringing us back together. If not here in person, then over the phone and the Internet. We Kusinitz cousins are talking with one another again. Many of us for the first time in years...sharing our fond memories of Irving...sharing our love. Being family.

We miss you Uncle Eyebrows. We miss everything about you. We'll love you forever.
