Norman Zachary

Died Tuesday at the age of 81 in his Newton home. He was surrounded by his family (wife Ruth, daughter Eve and sons Michael and Andrew). Norman's success in academia, music and business was surpassed only by his open admiration and respect for talent and hard work in others. We benefited from his honest criticism, modesty and loyalty which extended from his family and friends to his academic and business associates and to the artists and musicians he appreciated and encouraged. His life-long partnership with Ruth gave him the love, intellectual companionship and strength to meet his life's joys and challenges with dignity and kindness.
