To my family,
We were the lucky ones. All of us. And always remember that. No one else knows what it was like to have a dad like ours. We were luckier than all the rest. Dad left us with an outstanding set of values that we will all live with for the rest of our lives and I find so much comfort in that. He was the greatest man I have ever met and I am so proud to be his daughter. I miss him so much, as we all do. Just think of what a wonderful life he gave us. Just through who he was and the way he conducted himself and treated everyone to the end. His love for mom, and all of us has truly been such an inpiration. I love him and miss him so much it hurts. I love you dad and just want thank you for everything.

Dad:

I saw this poem today and thought of you. I can't stop thinking about you and all our time spent together, through life, but especially these last 18 months. I'll miss our "Saturday Night Date Night" and all the things that became "our" rituals. You had such a great sense of humor through all you went through and showed so much dignity. Even though you were the sick one, you were still worrying about everyone else and giving advice and trying to solve problems. My heart is heavy, from sadness but also from the enormous amount of pride I am carrying with thoughts and memories of you. Miss you so much!
Love Joni

Dad, our sadness knows no end;
We can’t believe you’re gone;
We’re grieving for you every day;
It’s hard to carry on.

You were always there to support and care,
When we needed a true friend,
How we’ll ever do without our dad,
We cannot comprehend.

You were our teacher and our guide,
Our dad, so good and strong;
Your example will sustain us now,
And last our whole lives long.

We’re trying to communicate;
We hope that you can hear;
Expressing what we feel for you,
Helps us feel you’re near.

Our memories of the times we had
help the pain to go away.
But Dad, our lives won’t be the same;
We’ll miss you every day.

A part of us went with you;
You left a gap too big to fill;
You’re our father and our hero;
We love you and we always will

Grampy,

You were a kind and rich man,
richer than you would have imagined, but your riches weren't the financial kind...you were rich in love and family.

You always put family first, everything else second.
Your memory will live on forever, through us.

We'll never forget you.
Our love for you will last an eternity.

Dad,
I can't believe you're gone. You fought long and hard this past year and a half and now you are finally at peace. We are all going to miss you so much. Hearing all your stories recently about your childhood (stories I've never heard before) meant so much to me. I'll always cherish those nights we spent together at Bear Hill, laughing and playing poker with the ladies. Anyone who had ever met you instantly liked you, and I don't think anyone's ever said a bad word about you. I'm glad that we had all those years working side by side at the fence company, and driving to work together for many of them. We've all been lucky to have you around for this long, a lot longer than anyone thought you'd be here. Whenever I see chocolate pecan turtles I will think of you. You are the BEST grandfather and father. You will be missed, my father, my best friend.

Love always,
Rickie, Tressa , Carly and Jesse

Dad:
I miss you with all my heart. I'll miss our daily talks, your words of wisdom and funny stories. I can still hear your "southern accent" when I think of you. You were the sweetest grandfather, who all the kids looked up to and cherished. Life will never be the same now that you are not in it. I am so lucky to have had the best father a girl could ask for. Thanks for a wonderful life with you and because of you.

Love with all my heart,
Joni
