Sandra Mae Elkin

Died peacefully Tuesday, August 5th, 2008, at home in Haverhill, MA, after a five year battle with multiple myeloma cancer. She was 59. Born in Pelham, NY, she lived happily on the North Shore for 30 years. She is survived by her mother Phyllis, her two children, Matthew and Alexis, 3 grandchildren, five sisters, and her partner Mel Fraser. Sandy was an English teacher at Georgetown Middle School for 23 years, and was very active in the theatre for Georgetown Schools, Pentucket Workshop, and Georgetown Congregational Church. A lover of arts and music, she directed and produced numerous musicals and plays including "Bye, Bye, Birdie", "A Christmas Carol", "Cabaret", and many others. Whether known as teacher, director, sister, producer, mother, grandmother, Noni or friend, Sandy touched thousands in her journey through life. She will be dearly missed by all, but never forgotten. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation period on Friday from 4 to 8 PM at the Merton E. Roberts Jr. and Conte Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, GEORGETOWN, MA 01833. Her funeral service will be on Saturday at 11 AM at the First Congregational Church in Georgetown.
