Frances Austin Obituary

Of Belmont in her 100th year Aug. 8, 2008. Beloved wife of the late Alexander J. Austin, Jr. Loving mother of Mary A. Skates and her husband Ronald L. of Winchester, Alexander J. Austin III and his wife Patty of Belmont and the late Robert C. Austin. Grandmother of Melissa A. Pinero of New Orleans, Elizabeth A. Skates of Manchester by the Sea, Jennifer Austin Horrillo of Madrid, Spain and Alexander B. Austin of Belmont. Also survived by 3 great grandchildren. At the request of the family, a private funeral and interment took place on Tuesday. Mrs. Austin, a direct descendant of William Bradford, Governor of Plymouth Colony, was a teacher of English and taught for many years at the Western Jr. High School in Somerville and the Kennedy Jr. High School in Waltham. Her summers were adventurously spent traveling in Europe, and often visiting the locales of the great figures in literary history. She was dedicated to the educationial process, but most importantly, devoted to her family. She is a graduate of Salem State College and Boston College, and also did graduate work at Boston College. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Carleton Willard Employee Appreciation Fund, in care of Carlteon Willard Village, 100 Old Billerica Road Bedford, MA 01730.
