Shirley Cline Obituary

Of Newton, on August 13, age 87. Wife of the late Melvin L. Cline, daughter of the late Eva and Benjamin Grossman, sister of the late Helen Grossman Alpert and Betsy Grossman Schnitzer, beloved mother of Alanna G. Cline, Atty. and Jonathan D. Cline and his wife Deborah, beloved grandmother of Arielle Cline and Tamara Cline and her husband, David Koelle, beloved Godmother of Peace Mu. Graduate of New York University (B.A.) and Boston University (M.A.). As a reading disabilities teacher she was devoted to using students abilities to enable reading rather than permit differing learning styles to disable it. As a real estate broker and her husband's partner in Melvin L. Cline Real Estate, she was an early champion of Fair Housing and of professionalization of real estate. As loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she fostered independence of growth and strength of spirit. Graveside services at the Crawford Street Memorial Park, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury, Friday, August 15. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor may be made to Temple Bnai Moshe, 1845 Commonwealth Ave., Brighton, MA 02135. Shiva observed at her home Fri. 3 pm-6:30 pm, Sun, Tues, Thurs 4 pm-8:30 p.m. Levine Chapels, Brookline (617) 277-8300
