Dear Aunt Peg and family,
I was fortunate enough to have seen such a strong love and bond between two people. I used to love hearing the different stories about Uncle Joe and Aunt Peg: (Uncle Joe buying the picture of Aunt Peg in a store window, or him only dancing with my Aunt Peg). It was these types of stories that I grew up hearing and cannot help but think that my parents tried their best to emulate something so powerful. His heart, charisma, wit, and passion for others will greatly be missed.
I am deeply sorry for your loss. My thoughts, love, and prayers are with you all.

May God Bless,
Jennifer Angelos

Dear Barrett family,
I was so saddened to hear of Joe's illness and passing. I always held him in such high regard, and thought Linda was lucky to have such a smart, caring and warm father. I also marveled at the strong, loving bond between him and Peg. I'm so glad you were able to renew your vows. I'm holding you all in my heart.
Love,
Phyllis

To The Barretts, I am very sorry to hear of your loss. As a child growing up next door to Mr. Barrett I saw him as a "regular Dad" in the neighborhood, mowing the lawn, cooking hamburgers on the grill in the backyard and driving off to some unknown workplace every day. As an adult I was struck when I realized everything else he accomplished! Recently, he and I spoke about what it takes to be a leader...of a class, of a school, and of a business. His wise words clearly also drew on his experience as the leader of his family. The way the family, Mrs. Barrett, Kathy, Joey, Linda, Diane and Stephen have rallied around him throughout his illness is a reflection of the kind of father and husband he was.
Elaine Swyryn, Karen and Walter Hriniak, and Mary Jean Ambrose send our deepest condolences.

Joelle and Joe, I just want to extend my sincere expression of sympathy to you and your family on the passing of Joe's Dad. He seems like he was quite a guy-both personally and professionally. I lost my Dad in 2006 and can relate to your sorrow. Even though we felt it was a blessing to relieve him of his pain, it 's still a shock and a deep feeling of loss. At this time, please accept my condolensces and be aware you're in our prayers. Bruce and Ellen Weinstein

To Aunt Peg, Kathy, Joey, Linda, Diane, & Stephen,

I am so very sorry for your loss. I know I don’t have to tell you, this but your husband/dad was a very special person. The memories I have of Uncle Joe are numerous and I will hold them near and dear to my heart. As I think back on my childhood memories, Uncle Joe was often part of them. He was always loving, patient and kind, and his wisdom was astounding. Who else would take nine kids to Paragon Park by himself, while their moms caught up on a few minutes peace? Or would know where to find gas for his niece and her husband during the 77-gas crunch, on a Sunday Afternoon? Although the miles may have separated us, my family and I have always felt his warm welcome when visiting Natick or the Cape. He has touched our lives and shall be missed by us all.

Go mbeannaí Dia duit..............May God bless you.

Love, Gail

Dear Mrs Barrett and Family
I had the honor and privelege of being advised by Joe for many years in Natick as part of his role as Personnel Board member.

His guidance and judgement in all matters were the best I ever recieved in my 43 years of public service in Natick and Newton. His character, wisdom and common sense contributed enormously to Natick's development of strong and professional human resource policies and practices, but above all his extrordinary personal strength and integrity always made me proud to be associated with him each and every day we worked together.!!

I extend to all of you my deepest sympathy on Joe's passing and can only pray that his peace and your acceptance of God's will is at hand.

In Christ's Love

Diane and family, although I did not have the honor of meeting Joe, I know through Diane's beautiful stories that he was an honorable man and wonderful father. His marriage to his beloved wife was shared with amazing tenderness as Diane talked of their unending love. Joe touched lives of those he didn't even meet and was an inspiration to me. May you all be blessed by his memory and your time with him. Praise the Lord that Joe is now with Him. All my love, Diane. Linda Uno

To Peg and The Barrett Family--

To be part of the Barrett Clan has been the highest honor and sweetest blessing of my life.

All of my memories of Joe are cherished, but my favorites are all derived from his 50th Anniversary.

I will miss his look of controlled bewilderment over the reality of "multiple dog" ownership. And I regret that I never got to thank him for his part in creating The Angel who saves me at every moment.

Psalm 69

1 Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.

2 I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

3 I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God."

To Joe's family,

It was a pleasure to work with Joe over our years together, especially through the merger process with Memorial Hospital and UMass Medical Center in Worcester. I was a nurse manager in the Ambulatory Care section of the hospital, and attended many meetings with Joe. He was a wonderful caring person.

My sympathies to all of you, as I am sure he will be very much missed by everyone, as he was missed by everyone when he left UMass.
