Sven Vaule Obituary

VAULE, Sven Alfred, Jr. 73, of Brookline and Chatham, MA, died August 16 at Massachusetts General Hospital. A 1956 graduate of MIT, he grew up in Maine and Rhode Island, and worked for IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY, before joining his father as a manufacturing consultant with Vaule & Company in Providence, RI In 1963. He and several partners acquired Jones & Vining, Inc., a shoe component manufacturing firm. He served as president of the company from 1975-1991, after which he continued as a board member. An avid auto enthusiast, he was actively involved in the Larz Anderson Auto Museum, where he was president of the board from 1997-2000, and continued to serve as a trustee until his death. A skier and competitive sailor, he loved the mountains and sea throughout his life. Deeply devoted to his family, he was a man of integrity, wry humor, straight talk, and a believer in hard work. He is survived by his wife Rosamond, sons Lars and Nils, daughter Christina, brother Eric, as well as nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be on September 12 at 2 PM at the First Church in Chestnut Hill, 26 Suffolk Road, Chestnut Hill.
