Joseph Nevulis Obituary

NEVULIS, Joseph J. of Scituate, formerly of South Boston, Sept. 8, 2008. Mr. Nevulis, 89, passed away at the Bay Path Nursing Center in Duxbury. Born and raised in South Boston, he was a graduate of Boston College High School. Following high school he worked at the Gillette Co. where he met his future wife who was also employed there. He enlisted in the US Navy during WW II and served in the South Pacific; he also played on the Navy baseball team in Miami. After completion of his military service, he returned to Gillette while attending Boston University where he received a degree in Business Administration. Mr. Nevulis later worked for more than 25 years as personnel manager for the Raytheon Corp. in Waltham. Born in 1919, the year after the Red Sox won the World Series, he was overjoyed to be able to see them finally clinch the title – twice -- in his lifetime. He also loved the Patriots and Scituate High School football and enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends to Ireland, Italy and the Caribbean. For many years during his retirement he was a volunteer driver at the Scituate Senior Center. He leaves his beloved wife of 64 years, Joan (Leader) Nevulis; his children, William Nevulis and his wife Anne-Marie of Rockland, Joseph Nevulis and his wife Mary of Scottsdale, AZ., Rosemary Kyle and her husband Thomas of Staten Island, N.Y. and Jane Lane and her husband Richard of Scituate. Brother of the late Claire Nevulis Fleming, John Nevulis, Grace Griffin and Mary Murphy. Also survived by 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd., SCITUATE, on Sat., Sept. 13th. Relatives and friends invited. Visitation will be held Sat. from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Anthony’s Church, So. Main St., Cohasset at 10:00 a.m. Burial in Cudworth Cemetery. Mr. Nevulis,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the USN in the Pacific fighting the Japanese during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
