Arthur Brown Obituary

BROWN, Arthur E. Jr. Of Randolph, went home to be with the Lord, Sept 13, 2008 at the age of 72. Beloved husband for 32 years of Gloria J. (Pierce) Brown. Dear stepson of Louise Brown of New Castle PA, Loving father of Arlene Blount of Dayton, OH, Courtney Gordon of Orlando, FL and grandfather of Tina Arlene, Derrick, Sara Ann, Walter JR., Anthony (aka "best buddy") and Autumn Elizabeth. Devoted brother of Nettie Rodgers of Memphis TN, Thomas J. Brown, of Lynn and Terry Lee of New Castle PA. Also survived by sons-in-law, sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Son of the late Arthur E. Brown SR. and Hattie (Holiday) Brown. Arthur was born in New Castle PA. In 1954, upon graduation from New Castle High School, Arthur joined the Air Force and served as a Ground Communications Equipment Operator in Labrador. He received an Honorable Discharge from the USAF in 1958. Arthur was stationed at Hanscom AFB when discharged and decided to stay in MA. He was employed as an Electronic Technician prior to joining the MBTA as a LRV Specialist and was Assistant Superintendent LRV Maintenance (Acting) from 1980-1981. Arthur was also a seasoned supervisor with over 20 years experience, and had a fourteen year background with the Alliance of MBTA Unions where he served as President from 1987 to 1996. Arthur retired in 2000 as Maintenance Supervisor. Arthur attended Fisher Junior College and took related course studies at Newman Prep, Wentworth Institute, Mass. Institute of Technology and Boston University. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation period Sat. morning from 10:00-11:00 AM in the Mount Moriah Baptist Church, 24 Pleasant St., Brockton, immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM in the Church. Burial in Central Cemetery, Randolph. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
