To my good friend Jackie and all of Roland's family and friends,

I met Roland in 1975 when I worked for him. We didn't become close until after that, sometime in 1977 and much more so in 1978 and all the following years.
During my two year employment, our relationship was more professional than personal; he was a mentor, always fair and generous to a fault, and always a perfect gentleman.
We later became close personal friends, and I got to know the fun side of him. He was a very good friend, always loyal in good times and bad. We shared many laughs and had many long conversations during which I began to appreciate more his brilliance, perhaps even genius.
I can not express how much I miss him.

To the Family of Roland Grimm,

I worked at EM&R as a summer job in 1968 and 1969, and after college graduation in 1970 through the transition to Barings, leaving in 2001. During the EM&R years, I’m sure each of us remembers being called in to Mr. Grimm’s office so that he could personally announce our annual bonus. Roland Grimm respected and was respected by all of us, and made sure it was a great place to work. He set the gold standard, and will be missed.

Dear Jackie:

I have so many fond memories of times spent together in the past both in St. Thomas and many other places as well. He was a true gentleman. I will never forget the first time I met him when he walked into my office in St. Thomas. His personal presense spoke volumes without him having to utter a word. Interesting isn't it.

On behalf of the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys, we will miss Roland and our thoughts and prayers are the family. We were privileged to have Roland share his expertise as an advisor of our organization. We enjoyed his humor and benefited from his extensive knowledge. I am personally grateful to know both Roland and Jackie as dear friends.

Dear Jackie, from St. Thomas to the Vineyard, oh did we have fun with you and Roland. What a lovely man, from the first moment we met at his house on STT when my car got stuck in his ditch and Roland challenged me that I would just have to sell his house as he helped lift my car out of the rut! (and I did!) to his generosity of spirit and philanthropy to many everywhere. Roland adored and was challenged by you Jackie. He said it's what kept him young. Sweet memories. Roland,
I don't think you'll ever know how grateful I have been for your support and friendship over the years. (Well, maybe you know now!) From your enthusiatic support of my work to sharing a glass of wine on the back porch in Santa Fe you will be missed. Thank you for your generosity, your humor, wit and keen eye. Until we meet again! And to Jackie -you know I'll always be there for you.

Jackie is one of my best friends and Roland was a wonderful pal. I will always treasure the memories of his his vast intellect, his ready generosity, his jokey charm, and his fun-loving spirit. Whether it was dancing at a party, choosing a wine, or discussing a controversial book, Roland was always ahead of the game. We will all miss you, Roland--even the Spectrelles! You are one of the good guys and someone I really trusted. Bon Voyage!

Dear Family of Roland Grimm,

I worked at Endowment Management from 1968 to 1973 - my first job out of college. I will always remember Roland Grimm sitting in the trading room, watching the ticker tape and looking over the stock charts. He was considerate of all his employess without exception. Winfield's picture is exactly as I remember him!

I hope he enjoyed his retirement as much as he loved working.

Roland and Jackie have been dear friends for the past 20 years since we all lived in St.Thomas in the Virgin Islands. In May of this year we were delighted to have them stay with us at our home in France for two wonderful weeks. Though frail, Roland would enjoy his daily walk into the village to buy croissants and to exchange a few knowledgeable words with the owner of the local wine shop. We will miss our friend and our hearts go out to Jackie who has so lovingly shared his life.

My partner Charles and I got 2 new friends in Charlotte when Jackie and Roland bought a home across the street from us. It was always a good time to spend with our new "part time neighbors" when they came through town. Roland and Jackie both loved one another very well and in the end Love is all that matters.

Mr. Grimm,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the U.S. Army in Europe during WW II as a member of the 10th Armored Division-the "Tiger" Division. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy. The 10th Armored saw extensive combat from October of 1944 through to VE Day in May 1945 from France through to Austria including the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes Forest.

My sincere condolences and we are praying for you. I worked at Endowment for a short time from 1972 until 1974...Mr. Grimm was a true gentleman from what my MOM called THE OLD SCHOOL. He treated his employees with kindness and respect and I truly enjoyed working at his firm.
