Edward Fogarty Obituary

FOGARTY, Edward L. Passed away at the Milton Hospital on September 28, 2008 at the age of 82. He leaves his wife of 56 years Mary (Clougherty) Fogarty, his daughters; Katherine Fogarty of Dorchester, Dr. Roxana Llerna-Quinn and her husband Christopher of Newton and 2 grandchildren Maria and Adam Quinn. Ed was born in Dorchester and has been a resident of Weymouth since 1960. Mr. Fogarty graduated from Boston College High School in 1944, Boston College in 1950 and received his Master's Degree from Boston State College in 1957. He was a member of the First National Guidance Institute at Boston University in 1959. Ed served in the Navy during World War 2. He was a Secret Service Agent in Washington D.C. and New York. Ed was a teacher in the Central Junior High School in Weymouth; the Guidance Director of Avon High School and Director of Guidance and Pupil Personnel Services for the Saugus School Department. After retiring from teaching, he turned his hobby and interest in Boston history into a new career with the Brush Hill Tours. His passion was Boston College football. He was a life member of the National Education Assoc, the Massachusetts Teachers Assoc. and the Avon Teachers Association, a past president of the Weymouth Kiwanis and a member of the Massachusetts Schoolmasters Club. The funeral is from the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. WEYMOUTH on Friday, October 3 at 10 A.M. The Funeral Mass is at the St. Francis Xavier Church, 261 Pleasant St., S. Weymouth at 11 A.M. Visiting hours are on Thursday from 3 to 7 P.M. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:15 P.M. donations may be made in Ed's memory to the B. C. High School, 150 Morrissey Blvd. Boston, MA 02125. www.bchigh.edu. HI MARY, PAT VINING. SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT ED. MAY HE REST IN PEACE. I JUST RETURNED TODAY FROM A CRUISE WITH MY FRIENDS FROM IRELAND.HAVENT BEEN TO THE POOL BUT HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON . HE WAS A GRAND PERSON.
