Uncle Robby, I am missing you today as I do every day.I have your picture on my desk and I am gazing at it as I write this. I can't believe it is a year that we have lived without your presence. But I know we live with your extraordinary, loving, robust, and gentle spirit every day, in our thoughts, hearts and lives. I love you Uncle Robby, full measure and pressed down as you always said. No one will ever fill your place.

To my uncle Bob,
It pains me beyond words to have not been able to say goodbye. I have thought about you and what you've shown not only myself but my family everyday. Ill never forget our masses in Hummarock.. our meetings in Cambridge.. and your unconditional love for others. It is what you've done for my father and I though which is what I'm most thankful for. You will live inside my heart forever.

My beautiful uncle was my heart! He made everything good in my life! He made living and believing in God a most joyous experience! He has always been a parent to me, my second dad! He loved me fiercely and being loved by him was a earthly experience of being loved by God. Whenever we parted from eachother he would always say to me,"My darling I love you full measure, pressed down, overflowing!" My beautiful beloved Unlce Robby I love you this way forever and ever and always! He gave us all enough love to last 50 lifetimes! God bless you my darling Uncle Robby and thank you for loving me and all of us so profoundly! I (we) will miss you desperately!

To Father Manning's family and the Jesuit community:
I was deeply saddened to learn of Father Bob Manning's death. I was so fortunate to know him when he was Chaplain at Holy Cross in the early 1970's. His advice, counsel and example have stayed with me in the nearly 35 years since I left that campus, a campus he enlivened with his presence and with the passion of his convictions. A brilliant man with tremendous knowledge and a desire to learn even more, he was also an engaging man who was a whole lot of fun to be around.
Simply put, when I think of the Jesuits, I think of Father Manning. So often, as I prepare to preach, I still hear his voice.
Well done,Father Bob Manning, SJ, good and faithful servant ....and THANK YOU!
Ad majorem dei gloriam....

Fr. Manning was a God-given second father to me, as a former Jesuit seminarian from a foreign country. In grateful remembrance for "Bob", my whole family (wife and our four chilfren) has offered prayers of thanksgiving for this holy man and his beloved ones (family and Jesuit companions).

Father Robert Manning, what can I say that anyone who knew him wouldn’t already understand.
He wasn’t much on formalities, “ Please call me Bob” . That was the first day I was introduced to him eight years ago. Little did I know I had just met the most compassionate , caring, and loving person I have ever had the privilege to know. Soon to become a true FRIEND .
He was strong in his beliefs but willing to listen to other sides.
He would go out of his way to ask “ How are you doing and how is Gail feeling? “ . He showed his compassion when Gail was going through treatment for breast cancer. While in the mid-west at a meeting of the U.S. Bishops , he had 2 masses said for her hoping it would help her in her battle . It helped, Gail is now 5 years plus cancer free.
This world is a much better place thanks to Father “ Bob “Manning , but there will always be an empty space now that Bob is gone.
God Bless You Father Robert Manning,

Bob was a memorable presence for many years in my life as a Jesuit seminarian. I remember him fondly as a person of remarkable balance and good judgment. It is saddening to lose such a good man on this earth. He made a better world.
