Of Milton, October 5, 2008.
Loving husband of 59 years of Agnes (Connell) Colpoys. Devoted father of Mary - Edwina Colpoys, M.D. of Watertown, Francis L. Colpoys, Jr., Esq. and his wife, Margaret of Scituate and Andrew G. Colpoys of Milton. Cherished grandfather of Kathleen and John Colpoys. Also survived by his sisters, Anne Bartley and her husband John of Watertown, Joan Barton of Virginia, and his brother-in law, Rev. Msgr. Andrew F. Connell of Marshfield. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary of the Hills Church, 29 St. Mary's Road, Milton, Friday October 10 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, MILTON, Wednesday 7-9 PM and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Interment Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline. He graduated from Boston Latin School '38, Boston College '42 and Tufts University School of Medicine '45. Dr. Colpoys was a highly respected physician and the former Chief of Medicine at Caritas Carney Hospital in Dorchester. He held affiliations and faculty appointments with numerous hospitals, medical schools and professional associations. Retired Captain of United States Army Medical Corp. during WWII. An avid sailor and golfer, he spent over 60 years as a summer resident of Scituate. Member of Scituate Harbor Yacht Club, Wollaston Golf Club and the Clover Club of Boston. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dr. Colpoys' name can be made to the Caritas Carney Hospital Foundation, 2100 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, MA 02124.
