F. Wahlen Obituary

WAHLEN, F. Elisabeth (Boehnke) 91, of Waltham, MA and Alexandria, NH, passed away Tuesday Sept. 30 at her home in Waltham. Elisabeth was the widow of Walter H. Wahlen. They were married in 1938. She was born in Boston, the eldest daughter of Walter C. and Hazel (Lantz) Boehnke. She grew up in Cambridge, MA and was educated in the Cambridge school system. Elisabeth lived in Cambridge MA until she moved to Waltham MA 38 years ago. Elisabeth was very proud of the many years that she worked for the Harvard Law School and the many lifelong friendships that were formed during those years. Elisabeth was an avid sports fan who followed all the Boston teams but her favorite was the Red Sox. She also enjoyed politics and she dearly loved to debate the issues and the merits and strategies of the candidates. Elisabeth is survived by a brother Frank Samuel and his wife Olive of Bedford, MA, daughters Priscilla Wahlen and her partner Sarah Montgomery of South Hadley, MA and Virginia Brahms of Reston, VA and a son Christopher Wahlen and his wife Sheryl of Plaistow, NH. She also had 7 grandchildren, Theodore Brahms, Anna Brahms, Faith Wahlen, Scott Wahlen, Melissa Melesky, Jeffrey Shanahan and Shaun Shanahan, and ten great-grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late David Boehnke. She is also survived by her much loved basset hound, Albert. There will be a family burial service in Alexandria, NH and a memorial service to be announced at a later date.
