Paul Byam Obituary

BYAM, Paul W. 98, of 14 Anbelwold Circuit, formerly of Wakefield, MA, died Thursday, October 9, 2008 at home. He was born April 7, 1910 in West Somerville, MA a son of Arthur W. and Carrie E. (Goodwin) Byam. He was a 1928 graduate of Medford High School and attended Mt. Hermon School in Northfield, MA. He was a longtime resident of Wakefield, MA before moving to Maine in 1975. He was an avid Bridge player and a member of the American Contract Bridge League. He enjoyed the exercise program at the Heart Health Institute and spending time at the York Senior Center. His wife Julia E. C. (Williams) Byam died in 1998. He leaves a son, Rodney W. Byam and his partner, Marge A. Stevens of Concord, NH; two granddaughters, Jennifer M. Byam and Emily A. Ball. Funeral services will be private. Burial will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery, Newburyport, MA. Memorial contributions may be made to the York Senior Center, 36 Main St., York, Maine 03909 or York Hospital "Fund Raising", 15 Hospital Drive, York, ME 03909. Paul will be dearly missed at the Heart Health Institute in York. He came to my Strength for Life exercise class faithfully, since it's inception in 2003. He would sing along to the songs and have a great time with everyone! His laugh will be remembered by our staff always...

Rob, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your father. Paul was always a joy to be with. His laugh will always echo in my memories. Thank you Rob and Paul for giving me the opportunity to know and be a part of the life of a very special man.
