Elaine,
I wanted to take a moment to let you know how proud you should be of your family.
I had the opportunity to meet them. Some I had met before and others I was meeting for the first time.
Your grandchildren are everything you always said and more. I recognized each one without being introduced. I knew them from your descriptions and your stories. How proud you must have been to see them honoring your memory at the Mass! I was amazed at how grown up they are becoming. They are better people for having had you as a role model in their lives. The impact you made on them is everlasting.
Your daughters welcomed me as if I were a member of the family. The held me and cried with me. They laughed with me through the tears. We shared some special stories about you and I hope I was able to bring some peace by sharing my memories with them.
Your sons-in-law are men to be proud of. They were strong and supportive and ready with a tearful smile and fast hug.
I have to say that the person who touched me the most was Dick. You chose wisely Elaine. You always told me that I was special and deserved someone to treat me properly.
You had that and more Elaine. Dick seized me in his arms and thanked me for coming. Thanked me for being such an important part of your life. He told me he loved me and that you loved me and that you spoke of me often.
I am crying as I write this because it meant so very much to me to hear those words. I always knew that you and he had something so timeless and so special. I can only hope to achieve what you two have.
Thank you Elaine.
Thank you for being my boss, my confidante, my cheerleader, my support system and most of all, for being my friend. I love you more than words can express. I know you know what's in my heart.

To Dick and Family..
What do I say at a time like this?
I feel like I have lost a grandmother, a mother and a friend. I can not begin to imagine how you must be feeling right now.
I am sure that each of you knew how very proud she was of all of you. I felt that I knew you all through the stories that Elaine would tell. She was so proud of her daughters and the wonderful sons-in-law she had. She was even more proud of her grandchildren and spoke of all of them often and with great pride. She treasured spending time with them, cooking for them when they would stay over at her house and even when they began to get older and spent less time with her and Dick, she was proud that they were growing into their own.
She was a woman who thrived on her family and thrived on her faith which gave her strength. She was my rock through many difficult times and was always there for me. To lend a nugget of wisdom or a word of advice, Elaine was far more to me than a co-worker/boss. She was a friend.
I will treasure the memories I have of Elaine dancing (or twirling as she put it) around the office desk and singing "OLE OLE" at the top of her lungs to make us all laugh.
There are so many memories to cherish and so many words left unspoken.
The last time I saw Elaine I hugged her. She felt so frail in my arms. I told her I was worried. She told me not to be. I whispered, I Love You, in her ear and before I walked away she whispered, I Love You Too. I am so thankful I had that moment with her.
To all of you, I wish you strength and courage to press on in her absence. She was a strong woman and would want that for all of you.
My deepest sympathies
