Irene Bouvier Obituary

BOUVIER, Irene E. (Purcell) Age 73, of Medfield, died peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2008 at the home of her daughter in Millis. Irene lived in Medfield for forty years and raised her family there with her late husband Henry. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who drew much strength from her deep Catholic faith. She had been employed for many years at the Medfield State Hospital and after retirement had worked with Medfield Prudential Page Realty. Irene was very active with the Medfield Senior Center and had enjoyed bowling, line dancing and playing cards with her friends. She was the loving mother of Stephen J. and wife Patty of Indianapolis, IN, and their children Eric and Emily, Laurence H. and husband Richard Carbone of Allston, Jacqueline L. Basey and husband Carl of Indianapolis, IN, and their children Audrey, Kristen, Carissa, Candy, Carl, Keith, and Krystal, Clifford J. and husband Thomas Slavin of No. Attleboro, Laurene A. Spiess and husband Jake of Millis, and their children David and Sandra Keating, Timothy J. and wife Lisa of No. Attleboro, and Andrea J. Mason and partner Alan Roy of Northfield, NH, and their children Jake, Stephanie, and Robert Mason and Alden Roy. Dear sister of Timothy Purcell and wife Louise of Woburn, Andrew Purcell and wife Lois of Ft. Collins, CO, and the late Josephine Pellegrini. Also survived by seven great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and close friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole, on Friday, Oct. 17th at 11:30a.m. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Millis. Visiting hours will be at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, MEDFIELD, Thursday, 4-8p.m. If desired, donations may be made in Irene's memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701. I was so saddened to hear of Irene's passing - she was my godmother. Although I only saw her a few times in my life (because of geographical distance), I remember her as a beautiful person and a lifetime friend of my mother.
