Elizabeth Bastable Obituary

BASTABLE, Elizabeth A. (Goolbis) 94, of Hanover, died Monday, Oct. 13th in the Norwell Knoll Nursing Home after a brief illness. She was born in Boston on May 12, 1914, the daughter of the late Jacob and Anna (Sauer) Goolbis. She was a longtime resident of Dorchester, before moving to Hanover. Mrs. Bastable was a former retired Secretary for the John Hancock Insurance Co. She enjoyed sewing, the opera, the theater and reading, especially the Anthony Trollope books. She enjoyed her family and reading to her grandchildren. Wife of the late James B. Bastable. she is survived by 1 son, Philip B. Bastable and his wife Deborah of Hanover, 2 grandchildren, Cheryn Byron and her husband Michael of South Boston and Lindsay Bastable of Hanover. She was the sister of the late Edward Goolbis. The Funeral Service will be on Friday at 1O AM at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 515 Hanover St., Rte 139 in Hanover. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4-7 PM in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte. 53 in HANOVER. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-9376 or to Habitat for Humanity, 252 Pleasant St., Hanover, MA 02339.
