Barbara Dubins Obituary

DUBINS, Barbara Mildred 80, of Sykesville Maryland, formally of Cumberland, Md and Oneonta, N.Y. died Tuesday, October 7,2008 at Copper Ridge Assisted living complex from complications due to a stroke she suffered in late July. Born, Sept. 17, 1928 in Malden, MA. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Fanny (Legals) Goldstein. She was also preceded in death by her husband Dr. Mortimer Ira Dubins in June of 2005 ; and her two sisters, Irene Stern and Gertrude Shore. Mrs. Dubins graduated from Malden high school in Malden Mass. She then went on to Lesley College, where she graduated with honors, with a degree in teaching. Mrs. Dubins taught first grade at Rhein- Main Air force base while her husband served in the Army Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Barbara then retired from teaching to become a wonderful full time mother. Mrs. Dubins was a member of the Temple Beth El, Oneonta; Hadassah, League of women Voters,and the American Association of University Women. Survivors include her son, Bruce Dubins and wife Bobbi, Lakewood,Ridgeley WV; one Granddaughter, Jacqueline Dubins, a student at West Virginia University, Morgantown ,WV; A niece Bonnie Staskal; and two nephews, Barry Shore and Stanley Shore. The family respectfully requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Lesley University, 29 Everett St., Cambridge MA 02138.

Dear Bruce and family,
