Being the daughter of Terry [Friedman] Schwartz & never having been afforded the pleasure of personally having met Henry Foster (since my mother had an untimely death when I was a youngster), I was truly sorry to have learned of Hank's recent passing (and regretfully so just as sorry to have never had the plesure of having met him). - Hank was obviously a pioneer in the biomedical field, & I can recall that when I had interviewed at Chls. River Labs back in 9/07, I had personally witnessed what an accomplished & highly respected icon he had been there. On behalf of my immediate family, I would like to express our deepest condolences to Lois and the remainder of Hank's family on how sorry we were to have learned of his recent passing. Hank appeared to have lived an extremely blessed life, & his family must be so very proud of what a remarkable guy he was!...I am sure he will be sorely missed by many among those who were fortunate enough to have their lives touched by him.

With warmest personal regards,
Sherri Esposito

My deepest sympathy and condolences to you aqnd your family, Lois. Hank's death has touched me a great deal. We go back a long way to the time he began his busines in my building and for many years after that. He was a nice, GOOD person and always commanded respect and admiration for the way he conducted his business and his life. Even tough I haven't seen him for many years, his passing away leaves a void in my life too.

I never met the Fosters but was supported by their generosity in their providing funds to support an exhibition of New New Painting at the Armory in NYC in 2002, Curated by Dr, Kenworth W. Moffett, former curator of 20 century at the MFA Boston. I am a British born Canadian Artist , Professor of Painting at the University of Alberta. I remain always grateful for your support. Although we have never met my appreciation and sense of loss in learning of Mr Foster's death is saddening.
My thoughts are with you.
Thank you for your support of the arts and the New New Painting group

Dear Lois and family, I think of you all often, and I'm only sorry the last years,I have been so pre-occupied with house renovations and doing my art shows,I haven't kept in better contact. I'm so sad to hear about Hank, he was such a wonderful man!!! Over the years(I think we met around 1978!) we did so many things together! One among many most memorable kind deeds Hank did was arranging for Lou Sternberg to meet us at the exhibition Ken(Moffett,my now ex-husb,then curator at Boston Museum of Fine Arts)did of Anthony Caro's work at the Christian Science Church. It was a fairly windy day, and Lou, who had contracted polio in his mid-twenties, had not been in a car(he came by ambulance arranged by Hank) for some twenty years, nor been outside in the sun and breathing real fresh air!! The intitial shock of the wind and sun on his face, took him a bit by surprise, but he adjusted , and for an hour or two, got to enjoy looking at the art almost in a normal way. The Hank Foster I will remember is an extremely kind and thoughtful man, the likes of whom I will probably never find again in this lifetime! He was smart, funny, perceptive, and always concerned about his family and friends! He was indeed a masterpiece as someone said above! And, he knew he was the luckiest man to have such a smart and beautiful wife and children. What you both contributed Boston Museum and the artworld lives on, Love, and hugs to you all, Lucy Baker(New New Painter)

To the Foster Family: it is with fondness that I recall the 13 years I spent at CRL - Wilmington ('78-'91), watching the company grow into the worldwide leader it is today because of Doc Foster's foresight and entrepreneurial spirit. Hopefully there are more people like him that will be motivated by his strong legacy of scientific advancement and follow in his giant footsteps.

Dear Mrs. Foster and Family,
I am sorry for your loss.
Mr. Foster was a wonderful, caring, kindhearted, generous individual. Although I only saw him a few times a year he always made me feel like I was the most important person on earth. When he visited Palm Beach he would always make an effort to visit me. Whether it was to drive by and blow the horn, or stop in for a social/event fundraiser, he always had a kind word and it reminded me why i've done what i've done for so many years, because of great people like Dr. Foster. You will be missed.

Dear Lois,
The sun is shining here in Boulder, Colorado. Yet those of us who knew your beloved Hank are experiencing a very grey and cloudy time. Hank entering an art gallery brought kindness, intelligence, passion, a love for learning, a love of giving...Lois was his muse, his family his paint and canvas. His friends the lucky ones. Quite simply, Dr. Henry Foster was an authentic masterpiece.
