I was lucky enough to have worked with Skip at Port Rehab. What a funny, kind, loving guy ! You will be missed.. At the time , we were nurses aides together.. I believe Scott was in high school at the time. Just a wonderful kid who grew up to be a wonderful man, with a huge and kind heart.. this is truly a sad loss.. My prayers are with you all

Dearest Alex,
My sorrow at your loss is great.
May the love that you & Scott were blessed to have- for too short a time- be the sustaining strength in your life.
I recognized this love in the way that you shared caring along with humor as you looked into each others eyes. This can never be lost. May you be strong & keep the memory of heroic Scott as an inspiration for your future.
with love, Fran

Alexandra,
You stand always next your heroic, impossibly brave husband, as a woman of courage, his wife, as the woman he chose to live with throughout his life.
And he did.
Here is the hero, his wish fulfilled in you.
You have both traveled this road together, in love, hope, and with God.
You have both shone with courage, tears and laughter, as husband and wife, taking on the greatest burden I can possibly imagine.
Scott will always be with you in spirit and love.
But oh, dear Alex, for a time on earth that should have been 50 years longer. My heart is with you. We cannot know your sorrow, we cannot imagine your bravery. But all of us surround you, all here to comfort and hold you-just as you and Scott have been held in the arms of the soldiers and commanders who so loved Scott, as dear friend, as comrade in standing for peace in Iraq, in the world.
In prayerful salute.

My son served proudly with Scott in Iraq. My family had the privilege of meeting Scott and his lovely wife on several occasions; it was our honor to meet such a wonderful young man.

Scott worked at Anna Jaques in security and we developed a friendship. We both worked the night shift and he would come up to Maternity and visit me quite often. We would talk about his future plans and his going into the service. He even came back to see me after joining the Army but I wasn't working. When I read about his valiant fight with cancer I contacted the Newburyport News so I could contact him. I was happy to know he had married and that his outlook was great. I was sorry to read about his passing but will remember him in my thoughts and prayers. My sympathies to his family. He was a great guy.

I didn't know Scott, but I did know his mother and father. My best wishes go to Meg in her loss.

My sympathy to the Miller family. Scott was not only my friend, but a man I looked up to. I only wish I had half the courage that Sgt. Miller had. He has accomplished so much and we are so proud of those accomplishments. It was an honor to be his friend and we will miss him very much. Luv you buddy, R.I.P Sgt Miller.

I was privileged to enjoy Scott's friendship during times at Elon as I was Laurie Wenninger Hinnant's roommate. Scott was the most caring, genuine person. I am so sad to hear this news and my thoughts are with his family. Much sympathy. Lauri Abrams Naumec

Growing up, we always joked that Scott desperately wanted to be a hero. He was determined to pitch for the Red Sox, or be a soldier and defend his country. How many of us get to live our dreams as Scott did? He threw the first pitch at Fenway last month, and served his country at home and abroad with great honor. The way he battled cancer, and lived out his life with dignity, and pride made him a hero to many. He is my hero.
