Donald Keelan Obituary

KEELAN, Donald R. Of Marshfield, Oct. 18, at the age of 84, beloved husband of 60 years to Virginia G. (Winslow) Keelan. Dear father of Donna Reitz of Hamlin, N.Y., Denise Kelley of Barnstead, N.H., Peter Keelan of Brookline, MA and Gregory Keelan of Pembroke, MA. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Brother of Robert G. Keelan of Portland, ME., Patricia Wilcox of CO., Andrea McIsaac of Palm City, FL. the late Edward J. Keelan III, and the late Kent P. Keelan. Father-in-law of Homer Reitz, Francis X. Kelley, Jr., Mari-Ann Keelan and Kelly Keelan. Don was born in Boston, graduated from Dedham High School, class of 1943, and was a member of the track team. He then served in WW II in the Army Air Corp, after the military Don graduated from Notre Dame College in January of 1950. He was a retired auditor for the U.S. General Accounting Office in Boston. A member of The American Legion in Dedham, Past President of Marshfield Kiwanis Club and a former member of Marshfield Country Club. After his membership at M.C.C. Don volunteered on the grounds crew and then became a permanent employee. He was a member of Society of Apprehension of Horse Thieves in Dedham. Funeral from the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St, (Rte. 139) Marshfield, Wednesday at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of The Assumption Church, Green Harbor at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Tues. 4-8 p.m. Contributions in Donald's memory may be made to Operation Hope, c/o Richard Martin, Veterans Agent, Marshfield Town Hall, Snow Rd., Marshfield, MA 02050.
