I always appreciated Bob's insight, sensitivity and wit. When we were students together he gave generously of his time and advice to make me more musically sophisticated. All my life I've been grateful and continue to be.

I knew Father Bob when he was Bob Canniff at Cathedral High School.
My remembrance of him was as an excellent student and friendly classmate. God Bless him and my prayers are with you at this time.

On behalf of the entire Finnegan Family, we are extremely saddened to hear of our friend Bob's death. He was an intimate member of our family circle as we were growing up in West Roxbury. He was so alive at the piano, singing, and leading the family singalongs. His life was not an easy one, but he was the soul of enthusiasm, which I am told means "the state of having God within." And that Bob did. Peace be with you, dear Bob; we know you're in a better place; give a big hug and sing a song to Mom, Dad, Fr. Jack and Allie while you're at it. Thanks for the memories, and God bless you and all the Canniff family. Love, Paul

Father Canniff was a great teacher and friend to all the stludents at St. Sebastian's. He respected differences and taught us to think independently. The lessons of life he taught me will remain with me always.
May you rest in peace Father Bob,
One of your students.
