Maj. Barnes,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USAF and U.S. Army Air Forces-especially during WW II when you were a glider pilot. The glider pilots of WW II were some of the bravest-they piloted gliders made of wood and fabric with no armor and basically the aerodynamics of a rock in what could be best described as a controlled crash landing-and once once on the ground they would fight as infantrymen. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
