Betty Pendergast Obituary

PENDERGAST, Betty (McCarthy) 86, of Marion, MA, formerly of Weston and Fairhaven, MA, died at home with her family, on October 28th, beloved wife of 63 years of Dr. William J. Pendergast, dear mother of five children , William J., Jr. (Pendy) (deceased), David, Peter, Beth and Julie; grandmother of nine grandchildren; Amy, Will, Andrew and Emily, Will and Lizzy, Arsenault, Chris, Ali and Katie Vega; and mother in law of three, Cynthia Pendergast, Walter Arsenault and George Vega. She also is survived by her sister, Elsie Lee Marvin, her brother in law Donald Marvin of Mattapoisett and five nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Robert McCarthy. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, November 1st at 11:00 am at St. Anthony's Church, 22 Barstow Street, Mattapoisett, MA, followed by burial at St. Anthony's Cemetery and a reception at the Pendergast family home in Marion, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Community Nurse and Hospice Care, PO Box 751, Fairhaven, MA 02719, or Hospice and Palliative Care, 1420 East Seventh St, Charlotte, NC 28204. I am so saddened to learn of Betty's passing. But Pendy and my folks (Per & Bunny Bogh-Henrikssen) and so many others are there to happily greet her heavenly arrival. My memories go back so far with all of you and the wonderful and silly laughs we had. You are a wonderful family with great strength and love - use it now and lean on your friends. Dear Dr. Pendy, Beth, July, David and Peter:
I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs. Pendy. She was such a kind, thoughtful and forgiving woman who was always there when you needed her. I heard that Mrs. Pendy's funeral is on November 1st, All Saints Day. How fitting for such a special and gentle person.

So sorry to hear of Mrs Pendergast's passing. I am the 2nd son of the late Dr. Charles F.and Elizabeth McCann of Wellesley. We had the great joy in our youth of being invited on your father's boat. Dad and Mom were good friends of your parents. The memories live on, so sorry. Jim
