Your husband and father was a fine man whose presence was noteworthy, admirable, and enjoyable. My very brief time spent with him and your family was meaningful. May he rest now and look down on all of the cherished people who showed such care for their "papa".

Dear Carol, children, and grandchildren,
We are so saddened to hear of Dick's passing. Our children joyfully recall sharing so many Christmases at Jane & Walt's, so many summers at Marshfield, and certainly the Erwin weddings. Notice how these are all the happiest of occasions? That is how your husband/father/grandfather shall remain in our hearts--with a quiet smile of kindness.
We shall join you in mourning on Monday.

Dear Carol and Family,
I was saddened to hear of Dick's death when I read the Ledger on line. He and I had a long phone conversation this past Sept. and he was very kind in calling me after Claire's death in Feb.
We go back a long way at Gillette and I know that he will be missed by all of you as he is being rememberd by his friends.
I am in FL and will not be able to make the funeral but will be making a donation to the people in need program in Dick's memory.
