ROM, Philip Age 97, of Brookline, on Friday, October 31, 2008. For 62 years, he was the beloved husband of the late Esther (Schiff) Rom, who died in November of 2007. Loving father of Alan Rom & his wife Suzanne of Chelmsford and Louis Rom of Hampstead, NH. Adored grandfather of Jason E. Rom. Graveside Services at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon on Monday, November 3 at 2:45 PM. Shiva will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Jewish War Veterans' Post #211, c/o George Marshall, 832 Dedham St., Newton, MA 02459. Levine Chapels, Brookline (617) 277-8300

My sincere regrets on the passing of your father. I appreciate your thinking to inform me at what must be such a difficult time. I'm sure you were a great support and comfort to him. Given the mensch of a son and person that you are, he must have been a wonderful father as well.

Alan, I'm sorry to hear about your dad, yet another short-term tenant in his latter years at 100 Centre St. While I didn't know him, he had to be pretty damn good to have a son like you. I know you were a devoted son, and I'm sure you brought him lots of pride. Good luck adjusting to your loss.
