Averill Olson Obituary

OLSON, Averill M. (Carpenter) 94, died peacefully, November 3rd at Greenbriar Terrace Healthcare in Nashua, N.H. Averill was born in Everett, MA, and raised her family in Reading, MA. Daughter of Seymour C. and Lillian (Steeves) Carpenter, sister of Helen Glendyne Le Baron, brother of Charles Bernard Carpenter. Family includes husband Carl and son Jon both of whom predeceased her, Jon's wife Jill of Battle Creek, MI, sons Kenneth and wife Kathy Olson, Windham, NH, and Charles and wife Paula Olson, Sturbridge, MA, niece Tonda Olson, Cape Elizabeth, ME. Grandchildren Rob and Becky, Kristin David and Peter, and Kerri, Kim and Stacie. Averill dedicated her life to her family and serving her community. She volunteered at Winchester Hospital more than 25 years serving on both the hospital board, and Friends of Winchester Hospital as member and chairwoman of its board, Reading Women's Club more than fifty years including as president, Old South Methodist Church in Reading, MA. including the Dorcas Circle, and delivered Meals on Wheels for Mystic Valley services for more than twenty years. She cherished the friendships made while serving. Averill's wishes were for private services; however, donations may be made in her name to Friends of Winchester Hospital, 41 Highland Avenue, Winchester, MA 01890, Old South Methodist Church, 6 Salem Street, Reading, MA 01867, or Meals on Wheels c/o Mystic Valley Elder Services, 300 Commercial Street, Suite 19, Malden, MA 02148.
