Mrs. Linell was born October 28, 1914, in Charlestown, NH, to the late Thomas P. and Mary H. Ahern, and grew up in Charlestown. Mrs. Linell graduated from Keene State College and taught in the New Hampshire school system until her marriage to Kenneth A. She was the last of a generation of Aherns of Charlestown, NH beginning in 1900. She was a teacher and substitute teacher in New Hampshire, a woman with independent spirit. Her foremost devotion and interest was her family, but she also had an extensive love of reading, solving The New York Times crossword puzzles (in ink), a passionate interest in gardening and architecture, and a devotion to early childhood education. Her wide ranging interests including horseback riding, tennis, stone walls, a fierce loyalty to her Irish heritage, and a preference for convertibles.
