GARD, Virginia C. (Overlan) Of Reading, November 13, 2008, at age 85. Beloved wife of the late Arthur Gard. Loving mother of Nancy O'Soro and her husband Bud of Reading, Bob Gard and his wife Helen, Carol Shiner and her husband Jim, all of North Reading. Cherished grandmother of Lisa Lawton and her husband Steve of Methuen, Michael O'Soro and his wife Jess of FL, Jennifer Afarian and her husband Greg of N. Andover, Angel Young and her husband Tom of Virginia, Elizabeth and Joseph Gard, James, Scott and Kyle Shiner, all of North Reading and great grandmother of 3. Dear sister of the late Arthur, Larry, Peter, Neil and William Overlan. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral from the Joseph Doherty-Barile Family Funeral Home 11 Linden St., READING Monday at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Virginia's life in St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill Street, Reading at 10 AM. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the family on Sunday from 2-6 PM. Parking is available in the municipal parking lot on Linden St. Interment Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading. Virginia was a loving and caring Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She will be missed. We will miss her as a friend. Virginia gave us her wonderful daughter Carol to add to our family. You and Arthur are now together now Virginia.

our condolences to her daughters, son and their families, we didn;t get to know her very much, but we know she will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, and many of those who new her. we know she loved going to NewfoundLake, while there she loved being with her grandchildren, and great grandchild there.

Gramms was the most loving and generous grandmother. She loved being at Newfound Lake with her family. She also loved Ainsley, her great-granddaughter who she called "her precious". We will miss her so much. The only comfort is knowing that her and grampa are together again.

Ginnie always made you feel welcome at her home in Reading! She knew my kids activities and always said nice things about them and everyone, she was not one to gossip. Although we are sad, Virginia and Arthur are together at last.....
