Joseph Wood Obituary

WOOD, Joseph, Sr. Of Somerville on November 12, 2008. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy (DesRochers) Wood. Beloved father of Dorothy and her husband Robert Touchette, David Wood and his wife Vicky, Elizabeth and her husband Robert Searles, John Wood and his wife Kathy, Kathy Smith and Joe Coviello, James Wood and his wife Sharon, Valerie and her husband the late Joseph Wood, Jr. Proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral from the Brown-Flaherty Funeral Home, 261 Washington St., SOMERVILLE, on Mon. at 9am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Church, Union Square at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Sunday 4-8pm. Joe was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Navy and a dedicated employee of the City of Somerville for 21 years. In lieu of flowers donations in Joe's memory may be made to the American Juvenile Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St., 5th Floor, Boston MA 02210. Interment will be private.

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Mr. Wood,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USN during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
