Benjamin Ashapa Obituary

ASHAPA, Benjamin L. Born in Taunton, on August 2, 1909, died peacefully on November 20, 2008. He was devoted to his family, to his country, and to Israel. He was a good friend to many. He was the youngest of 4 children of the late Joseph and Rose Ashapa. He shared 72 years of marriage with his wife and partner-in-life, Bedonna (Besbris) Ashapa. He is survived by his son Stephen Ashapa and his wife Verena of Switzerland, his daughter Avis Toochin and her husband Joseph of Woodstock, NY, and his son Mike Ashapa and his wife Doris of Foxboro. He truly loved his 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace. Services will be at Schlossberg-Solomon Memorial Chapel, 824 Washington St., CANTON on Sunday, November 23 at 12 Noon. The family will be observing Shiva at Heights Crossing Assisted Living Residence, 35 Christys Place, Brockton following interment through 5 PM and then on Monday and Tuesday from 2:30-4:30 PM and 7:15-9:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ben's memory may be made to Congregation Agudath Achim, P.O. I grew up around the corner from Aunt Bea and Uncle Ben and used to go to their house to watch Milton Berle on Tuesdays. Mike and I were best friends. Avis and Steve are a few years younger. Our parents were also close.
