Frederick Minkovitz Obituary

MINKOVITZ, Dr. Frederick S. "Dr. Mink" Of Mashpee, formerly of Medford, Belmont and Waltham, Entered Into Rest November 21, 2008, at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Bonnie S. (Kagan) Minkovitz. Devoted father of Toby L. Curtin and her husband Joseph of Haverhill, MA and Dr. Jeffrey B. Minkovitz and his wife Dr. Cynthia S. of Bel Air, MD. Cherished grandfather of Andrew M. Minkovitz and Rachel A. Minkovitz. Loving brother of the late Frances Fisher, Morris MInkovitz, Rose Minkovitz, Lee Minkovitz, Esther Shoicket, & Jeannette Lavine. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Nancy Kreevoy and her husband Dr. Herbert, and by numerous dear nieces and nephews. Dr. Minkovitz was guided by his belief that what is important is what you do for others, and the legacy one leaves is most important in the end. He served his country during the Korean Conflict, retiring as a lieutenant. He was active in each community in which he lived, serving as local chairperson for the Combined Jewish Philanthropies in Medford for 10 years and then Belmont for 5 years. A loyal and dedicated friend, he was surrounded by those who respected him, trusted his advice, and enjoyed his company. Dr Mink retired in March of this year, after practicing dentistry in Somerville, MA for 50 years. He was loved by his staff and his patients alike, respected as much for his compassion and moral approach to practice, as he was for his professioal skills. Above all, his family came first; he was a beloved brother of six siblings, husband, father and grandfather. Memorial Observance will be at Dr. Minkovitz's late residence on Sunday evening 7-9 PM and on Monday & Tuesday 2-5 & 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dr. Minkovitz's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cape Cod, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601. Dr. Minkovitz,
I left the previous reflection and I want to apologize to you and your family for addressing you as Dr. Miller-I was typing too fast and have been awake for too long. Again, please accept my deepest sympathy.
