George Sgouritsas Obituary

SGOURITSAS, George 74, of Webster passed away December 2, 2008, peacefully from the arms of his loving family to the loving arms of the Lord after a long illness. George is survived by his wife of 41 wonderful years Persephoni (Milios) Sgouritsas; by his loving son John Sgouritsas; by his loving daughter Aikaterina Sgouritsas-Beland; by his granddaughter Georgia; by his son-in-law Eric Beland; and by many other relatives and friends. George was born in Vassara, Greece and moved to the United States in 1956 to live his dream. He founded Lake Pizza on Thompson Road in Webster. He loved his work and would often refer to the restaurant as his pride and joy - a business which he passed on to his family as a legacy, a legacy that he was proud of. George was a faithful and devout member of Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was dearly loved and respected and will be greatly missed. The funeral will be held Friday, December 5, at 10:00 AM in Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 37 Lake Parkway. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. Calling hours at his beloved church will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, December 4. The Trisagion service will be conducted at 7:00 PM during the calling hours. In lieu of flowers, George's family would prefer that donations in his name be made to Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 37 Lake Parkway, PO Box 713, Webster, MA 01570-0713. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., WEBSTER. www.sitkowski-malboeuf.com

Dear Betty and the Sgouritsas family,
We are very sorry to hear of George's passing. How often we would stop by Lake Pizza and enjoy all your wonderful food, and always with a nice visit with you. We think you fed half of Webster!
We are the ladies who went to Greece and so enjoyed sending you a card from there some years ago. We enjoyed sharing with you our little phrases we learned.
We are still in contact with Fr, Peter and Eva Kyriakos down here.
As George looks down from Heaven, I'm sure he will continue to love and care for you. I pray his joy will rest on all of you. God hold you close in this difficult time of sorrow.
Loving prayer,

LuAnne, Paul & Gabrielle Bernier
