My little princess girl,
It does not seem possible that one year has passed since we said farewell. Hearts are heavy in missing you, but we carry on in your name. You surely left your mark upon this family in the year you shared with us and we thank you for those wonderful memories.

There are some beautiful song lyrics which to me perfectly sum up the gift you gave to each one of us who knew and loved you so.
"...People come into our lives for a reason, bringing something we must need and we are led to those who help us most to grow if we let them and we help them in return....
It well may be that we may never meet again in this lifetime, so let me say before we part, so much of me is what I learned from you. You'll be with me like a handprint on my heart...
I have been changed for the better; because I knew you, I have been changed for good."

Thank you, Maeve, for leaving a handprint on my heart and for making this world a nicer place because you graced it with your presence. May God continue to hold you, your wonderful Mommy and Daddy and brother Matty in the palm of His hand.
We love you; we treasure you and may we make you proud.
All my love forever and a day,

August 3, 2008

My special girl...not a day passes that I don't think of my love for you.
Missing you is hard and is something I will carry with me always. I'm watching over Mommy and holding her close. You are so loved and missed.

May 25, 2008

Maeve,
Not a day goes by that you are not in my thoughts.
The memories I have of you and me together are my apple!

My little princess girl,
Some days it is almost possible to cope with the fact that you are gone. Others day, that knowledge bring us up sharply as we try in our own way to make sense of what happened. For someone who lived such a short period of time, your sweet smile and many gifts had a tremendous impact on those who loved and cherished you. Be at peace in God's loving arms, knowing that you are treasured more with each passing day. And ask God to watch over your Mom, Dad and wonderful big brother. They carry on in your name, but their hearts are heavy with the love and loss of you.
My love is with you forever and a day...

A PAIR OF SHOES" ~Author unknown~

I am wearing a pair of shoes. They are ugly shoes. Uncomfortable shoes. I hate my shoes. Each day I wear them, and each day I wish I had another pair. Some days my shoes hurt so bad that I do not think I can take another step. Yet, I continue to wear them. I get funny looks wearing these shoes. They are looks of sympathy. I can tell in others eyes that they are glad they are my shoes and not theirs. They never talk about my shoes. To learn how awful my shoes are might make them uncomfortable. To truly understand these shoes you must walk in them. But, once you put them on, you can never take them off. I now realize that I am not the only one who wears these shoes. There are many pairs in this world. Some woman are like me and ache daily as they try and walk in them. Some have learned how to walk in them so they don't hurt quite as much. Some have worn the shoes so long that days will go by before they think about how much they hurt. No woman deserves to wear these shoes. Yet, because of these shoes I am a stronger woman. These shoes have given me the strength to face anything. They have made me who I am. I will forever walk in the shoes of a woman who has lost a child.

The Cord

We are connected,
My child and I, by
An invisible cord
Not seen by the eye.

It's not like the cord
That connects us 'til birth
This cord can't been seen
By any on Earth.

This cord does it's work
Right from the start.
It binds us together
Attached to my heart.

I know that it's there
Though no one can see
The invisible cord
From my child to me.

The strength of this cord
Is hard to describe.
It can't be destroyed
It can't be denied.

It's stronger than any cord
Man could create
It withstands the test
Can hold any weight.

And though you are gone,
Though you're not here with me,
The cord is still there
But no one can see.

It pulls at my heart
I am bruised...I am sore,
But this cord is my lifeline
As never before.

I am thankful that God
Connects us this way
A mother and child
Death can't take it away!

Meg, Joe and Matt, it is hard to believe that it has been more than 4 months since we saw her. When I see that beautiful smile from last Easter it takes my breath away. Life will never be the same again but I am so much better for having known and loved that beautiful little girl. I don't think I have ever thanked you for sharing her with me. You so generously shared her with all of your loved ones and I think I speak for all when I say Thank you.

I know there are days when it is hard to hold yourselves up, but always remember that all those who love you are proud of how you are managing. I know that Maevey is extremely proud.

We love you all and you are ALWAYS in our thoughts and prayers.

August 21, 2007

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Meg, Joey and Matty:
I think this poem says it all...

Ascension
And if I go while you're still here, know that I live on - beyond a veil through which you cannot see.
You will not see me, so you must have faith.
I wait for the time when we can soar together again, both aware of each other.
Until then, live your life to its fullest.
And if you should need me, just whisper my name in your heart -
I will be there.

May God raise Maeve up on the wings of eagles.
Maevey, we love you, we treasure you and may we make you proud.
With all my love,

Erin Teague
