68 of Cedar Grove, NJ. Formerly of Upper Montclair, NJ, died Monday, August 20 at Mountainside Hospital, Glen Ridge, NJ. Visitation will be Thursday, August 23 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Hugh Moriarty Funeral Home, Montclair, NJ. The Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cassian Church, Upper Montclair, NJ. Born in Somerville, MA, he moved to NJ in 1970. He was a purchasing agent at various health & beauty aids companies including Bristol-Myers, Wella and Revlon. Later, he was in sales in the graphics industry. He was predeceased by his father Daniel L. and mother Alice M. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Catherine (nee Grimm); a sister, Catherine A. Maiona, Kennebunkport, ME; and two brothers, Daniel L. of Billerica, MA, and Michael E. of Somerville, MA. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces. George was a member of the Benevolent and Loyal Order of Honorable Ancient Red Sox Diehard Sufferers (BLOHARDS), a club for displaced Red Sox fans in the metropolitan area, and made the yearly trip to opening day at Fenway Park. He was also an usher at St. Cassian Church. He served in the U.S. Army in the military police.
